The 20th November was not only Children in Need day but the 20th anniversary of the signing of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. See how Polar Bear base were linking these occasions in their learning.

Changes to the School prayer
School Council were keen to update our school prayer to reflect the commitment we have as a school to a Rights Respecting ethos. We collected our own ideas together first and prepared two new prayers. We took these back to every class to be considered and ammended. We felt it was essential that everyone had a say in developing the new prayer. It will be everyone's and everyone must be happy with it. Mrs. Rees discussed the prayers with Mr. Treeby and Mr Lavis and a final version was agreed.
The new prayer was introduced to school in a special School Council Assembly.

Father God we ask you to bless our school and keep us safe.
Be with us as we live and learn and grow together.
Help us to enjoy our rights, to respect others and take our responsibilities seriously.
Amen

Rights and respecting school
This week we have been learning about rights and respecting school. We were looking article 15,my group where looking at green peace. We got given a peace of paper and what it said on the paper we had to trie and make it into a role play. After we had the little role play one group went up one by one bravely showing it, it was fun in a way. When we had finished we talked about the rights that the role play did not have.
After all of that we had to draw a picture of our role play and write down the right about it too plus about two of the characters.I really enjoyed it!

Article 15 Rights and Respecting
In year 6 this week we have been looking at human rights, pasificly article 15. That article says that children and adults have the right to join in through a wide range of clubs, football teams and well known organizations across the country, well, most of the world realy . So we've been acting out role play situations to do with games and lifelike options that might happen in the future ! Although we have had a short time to study this ,we have also drawn pictures to go with our writing about how people are breaking our rights!

Rights respecting school
This tearm we have been learrning about childrens rights. Every class in the school has focused on one of the 42 articles. As some of you already know we(year 6)have looked at article 15.Miss King gave all 5 groups a different senario. After that we acted them out infront of the whole class. My groups scenario was green peace(a organisation that helps the earth)didn't like people killing whales and a man from Japan killed a whale so green peace were angry!
